Louis – Oerol is a moment of hurrah! – for every step that we come closer to understanding nature
Nora – Oerol gives people the possibility to explore and discover. Discover the island, the landscape, others and yourself.
Lilian – Oerol provides an opportunity to step back from the pervasive bureaucracy of urban life, and instead immerse oneself in how we as human beings identify with the land that we inhabit.
Sicco – Oerol is for me the dialog between art, nature and culture. Of the visible and the invisible and of the intangible that briefly becomes tangible.
Erika – Oerol is about experiencing the landscape in new ways. It’s about art and culture meeting the vastness, the beauty and the powerful forces of nature.
Filiz – An opportunity to learn more about the unique landscape of Terschelling through studies within the interface of land art and landscape architecture. An exciting interdisciplinary architectural assignment regarding team work and the actual building of a design in 1:1 as well as an unique chance of interaction with the visitors of the festival.
Jolien – Not only the Oerol festival itself is something special also the venue, Terschelling, is exceptional. This is something that maybe not every visitor of Oerol is aware of. I think Oerol is about telling a story about this special place and to give people an experience that is unforgettable.
Mette – Oerol is the strength of imagination! Building a temporary something from nothing with only the good memories afterwards.
Jaap – Oerol is a broad landscape of art and nature
Pien – Oerol; a special festival on a special location, the island Terschelling. For us Oerol is not only about the experience of the festival but also the experience to actual build a design on site. A temporary installation where culture, art and nature meet.
Jade – The creation of the Oerol installation is a chance to challenge my usual design rationale by focussing on imaginative and artistic concepts.
Jean Pierre – Oerol is about freedom and enjoying all the different landscapes of the island and experience Terschelling in a new way every day.
The Tutors
Frits – Being able to think free and create: Means experiencing the joy of art and design in the context of mother nature. Is to work and think as a team with a mission. Is to connect people.
Michiel – Oerol is about conceiving a landscape art project from a scientific background with young people, giving them creative freedom and all responsibilities they will take during the process. The outcome is always open, fresh and new. There are lots of uncertainties to deal with but together we make it and in the meanwhile everybody is learning a lot and having a lot of fun!
